Netflix has announced a second season for its animated series Arcane, which takes place in the League of Legends universe. Season 2 is already in production.
Key members of the voice cast including Ella Purnell as Jinx, Katie Leung as Caitlyn Kiramman and Hawkeye's Hailee Steinfeld as Vi are already confirmed to be returning for Season 2, Variety reported on Saturday, Nov. 20. Executive producers include Christian Linke, Marc Merrill, Brandon Beck, Jane Chung and Thomas Vu.
Riot Games, which released the hit online game League of Legends in 2009, partnered with Netflix and the French animation studio Fortiche to create Arcane. Regarding the show's renewal, co-creators Linke and Alex Yee stated, "We’re beyond happy about the positive response to Arcane's first season and are working hard with the creative wizards at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second installment."
At this time, no release date for Arcane Season 2 has been announced, and details about its plot are scarce. However, Netflix shared its own announcement on the Netflix Geeked Twitter account, posting a short video with an animation showing the number "2" crackling with magic, accompanied by the voices of the show's characters in conversation.
The three parts of Arcane Season 1 are now streaming on Netflix. Season 2 does not yet have a release date.
