Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld have recruited some unique allies to promote Hawkeye.
A new promo for the Marvel Studios/Disney+ series features the JabbaWockeeZ, a dance crew known for its stylized attire and matching masks. In the clip, the group shows off some slick choreography that pairs hip-hop with archery, while taking aim at some nearby targets. The commercial was part of a collaboration between the National Football League and Hawkeye, promoting a game between the defending Super Bowl champions the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Giants, which took place on Monday, Nov. 22.
In between the segments of the JabbaWockeeZ dancing, the cast of Hawkeye discusses the similarities between the NFL and being a superhero. Renner opens the commercial by saying, "In this line of work, precision is everything," before adding "And defending a Super Bowl? That takes a badass marksman." Steinfeld also emphasized how difficult being a hero can be, whether that means being an actual superhero or an athlete. The pair then pay their compliments to both Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and the tenacious New York Giants, before cutting away to the details for where fans can watch Hawkeye and the NFL.
This isn't the first time that Marvel's premier heroes have brushed shoulders with the NFL. Earlier this year, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle appeared in a commercial for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. In that promotion, Kittle was drafted to live alongside Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote. However, being roommates with the two proved to be tougher to handle than the fiercest defensive line-up, as Kittle found himself overwhelmed by Venom's notably bizarre lifestyle.
As for the JabbaWockeeZ, the team of Renner and Steinfeld would likely welcome their help as Hawkeye is set to pit the pair against a wealth of new foes. A recent clip from the series showed the group known as the Tracksuit Mafia setting the heroes' house on fire with Molotov cocktails while trying to provoke a fight. Additionally, Hawkeye will feature Fra Fee as the Clown, Alaqua Cox as Echo and Vera Farmiga as Eleonor Bishop, who may be hiding her own villainous agenda from the titular heroes.
In Hawkeye, Renner's Clint Barton must confront his past when a mysterious new Ronin appears in the streets of New York City. Revealed to be Steinfeld's Kate Bishop, Clint and Kate have to team up to take down a new threat in the build-up to Christmas. The show debuts exclusively on Disney+ with a two-episode season premiere on Nov. 24.
