Flashdance, L Word Star Reacts To Her Book of Boba Fett Character Reveal

Actor Jennifer Beals has finally broken the silence about joining the Star Wars universe for The Book of Boba Fett.

The first Book of Boba Fett trailer dropped this week, offering fans a tease of what the new series will explore. Unsurprisingly, many of the plot details revealed so far focus on Boba and Fennec Shand attempting to fill the void left by Jabba the Hutt's death in Return of the Jedi. The trailer featured numerous Star Wars aliens, including a quick shot of some Twi'leks. And it was hard not to spot Beals, who the camera focuses on as her character speaks in hushed towns to another of her kind.

Following the trailer's release, Beals took to social media to share her excitement about the casting, saying, "So honored to be part of the Star Wars family. The little kid in me is jumping up and down."

Ming-Na Wen, who plays Fennec on the series, replied to the tweet, saying, "So happy to finally have you announced! I'm jumping up and down with you!" Beals then replied with a GIF of LEGO Grogu jumping with joy.

Beals is likely best known for starring in Flashdance, but she also gained significant acclaim for her role in the seminal lesbian drama The L Word, which ran for six seasons on Showtime starting in 2004. Last year, the series was revived as The L Word: Generation Q, with Beals one of many returning cast members. She also serves as an executive producer. She'll next star with Mila Kunis in Luckiest Girl Alive.

Bumping back the third season of The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett will arrive this winter and finally flesh out the iconic character that fans have long obsessed over. In doing so, the fate of Tatooine following the fall of the Empire will also be further explored, providing numerous opportunities for more familiar faces to return. Check out the synopsis for the series below:

The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

The Book of Boba Fett stars Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, with Jennifer Beals in an unnamed role. The series premieres Dec. 29 on Disney+.
