WandaVision's Agatha Spinoff Sets Filming Start Window

Star Kathryn Hahn is set to return as her witchy WandaVision character in the spinoff series Agatha: House of Harkness, which now has a production window set for the latter part of 2022.

According to The Cosmic Circus, the Disney+ series is set to begin filming in October 2022. Principal photography will take place in the state of Georgia. Additionally, the production company behind the show will be called Oakhaven in an apparent nod to Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost, a direct-to-video movie set in a small New England town rife with supernatural elements.

Hahn initially played the sort of nosy neighbor that is a common character type in the sitcoms that WandaVision drew inspiration from, but over the course of the show it was revealed there was much more to Agatha. In truth, she was a witch who had developed a fascination with Wanda's chaos magic. The performance drew both critical acclaim and praise from fans, leading to a deal for Hahn that includes multiple film and television roles.

Created in 1970 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Agatha Harkness of Marvel Comics is a survivor of the original Salem Witch Trials in the late 17th century. She was introduced in Fantastic Four #94 as a governess to Franklin Richards, the son of Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. Much like Agatha in WandaVision, it's eventually revealed there is more to Agatha than meets the eye, though she's more a misunderstood hero than a villain. Later, she even befriends the Scarlet Witch and becomes something of a mentor to her.

Details concerning the plot of the series are scarce. Agatha Harkness was last seen trapped in Westview after she was bested by Wanda in the season finale of WandaVision. Her fate following the collapse of Westview remains unknown.

Before her own series begins, there is a tie-in with another magical property within the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the horizon. Agatha will be teaming up with Mordo in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. How the two villains interact and what they have in store for the Master of the Mystic Arts and Scarlet Witch has yet to be revealed.

All episodes of WandaVision are streaming now on Disney+. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres on May 6, 2022. Agatha: House of Harkness does not yet have a release date.
