Spider-Man: No Way Home Gets a Pair of Trippy New Posters

Spider-Man's world becomes warped in a pair of Spider-Man: No Way Home posters spotlighting Doctor Strange and the multiverse.

Malaysian cinema chain GSC shared the posters to mark the availability of tickets for pre-order. The promo images depict the web-slinger and the Sorcerer Supreme traversing the Mirror Dimension with the use of a Sling Ring, though one includes Doc Ock's metal arms.

The posters mirror an action sequence witnessed in the trailers, where Strange pursues Spider-Man through the streets of New York, bending reality around the wall-crawler in an effort to catch him. The most recent trailer hints Peter Parker will disobey Strange and try to save the multiversal villains after finding out that interdimensional variants of Spider-Man are responsible for their demise. The somewhat antagonistic relationship between the pair becomes more evident when Strange leaves Parker and his friends to deal with the consequences on their own.

No Way Home marks Strange's first live action appearance in the MCU since Avengers: Endgame, with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirming the Sony-Marvel co-production would tie in to the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, directed by original Spider-Man trilogy filmmaker Sam Raimi. That film is also set to dovetail with other multiversal MCU projects, such as WandaVision, Loki and What If...?

Supposed leaks suggest the film will contain elements from Fox's defunct X-Men franchise, including a potential Professor X cameo. This development comes on the heels of the infamous Quicksilver red herring from WandaVision, which teased actor Evan Peters' return as the X-Men mutant, only to reveal that he was a brainwashed Westview citizen named Ralph Bohner.

Speculation surrounding No Way Home and the involvement of actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have only grown intensified since the release of the latest TV spots. Eagle-eyed fans noticed a mysterious invisible force punching Lizard in the Brazilian version of the spot, prompting speculation that the former web-heads have been digitally removed from certain shots to keep their entrance a surprise.

Adding and removing characters from scenes is a tactic Marvel Studios has used in the past, with perhaps the most popular example being the Avengers: Infinity War trailer, which added Hulk to the final shot in the trailer, despite Bruce Banner never Hulking out in the actual film.

Spider-Man: No Way Home, directed by Jon Watts, swings into theaters on Dec. 17.
