Knights of Ren Trailer Real or Fake?

What looks to be a trailer for a Star Wars movie or TV series about the Knights of Ren has surfaced, and fans are having a tough time deciding whether it's legitimate.

The footage features a very Lord of the Rings/Nahzgul-esque member of the Knights of Ren leaping from a TIE Fighter and slicing apart an X-wing. The title of the purported project is revealed to be Knights of Ren: A Star Wars Story, but while the subtitle is the same one used for the theatrical Star Wars anthology movies, the Disney+ logo would suggest it's a streaming series if anything at all. Regardless, some fans can't tell if it's real or fake.

The Knights of Ren debuted in The Force Awakens by way of namedrops and visions before appearing properly in The Rise of Skywalker. The group consists of elite, masked, Force-sensitive warriors, with Kylo Ren acting as their leader. However, while many were intrigued by the concept of the Knights of Ren in The Force Awakens, their role in The Rise of Skywalker, which saw them easily disposed of by the reformed Ben Solo after serving as nameless, faceless henchmen, left a sour taste in fans' mouths.

Despite their lack of screentime, more light has been shed on the Knights of Ren in Marvel's Star Wars comics -- particularly The Rise of Kylo Ren, which introduced the group's previous leader, Ren. The group is also currently playing a role in the Crimson Reign crossover, written by Charles Soule with art by Steve Cummings.

"To clarify -- Ren and the Knights of Ren are not part of Crimson Dawn. They are working with Qi'ra and her people, to achieve a shared goal. Ren's not much of a joiner," Soule recently told CBR. "It feels spectacular to get to expand what we know about him and the Knights, especially with his appearance on TV recently as part of the Terrifying Tales holiday special on Disney+ -- as a Lego, no less! Will Sliney put a lot into him when we built him, and to see him making his way into larger storytelling is incredibly fun."
