The Boys Introduces Spinoff Series University Setting

The Boys teased the setting for the upcoming, college-themed spinoff series.

During the final segment of "Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman," it was revealed that the spinoff series will take place at the fictional Godolkin University, attended by super-powered students who train for four years. This leads up to the annual "Vought Hero Draft," where once a year up and coming supes compete for Vought International contracts to protect cities around the world. This year, the cities up for grabs include Miami, Cleveland and Los Angeles.

The university is named after John Godolkin, who appears in The Boys comics series as the leader of the G-Men, a twist on both the X-Men and Professor X from Marvel Comics. It was announced in September 2021 that Agent Carter showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters had been brought on to helm the upcoming college-themed spinoff of The Boys.

"Much like Mork & Mindy spun-off from Happy Days -- which is an insane and true fact - - our spinoff will exist in the Vought Cinematic Universe, yet have a tone and style all its own. It’s our take on a college show, with an ensemble of fascinating, complicated and sometimes deadly Young Supes," said The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke. "Michele and Tara are stone-cold geniuses, we’re thrilled to have them steer this ship, and grateful to Sony and Amazon for the opportunity. We love this show and can’t wait for you to see it. Also, Baywatch Nights spun-off from Baywatch, and it had vampires. Vampires!"

The yet-untitled spinoff series was announced in 2020, described as "an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games -- with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys."

The Boys recently announced the premiere date for the anticipated third season, promising a bloody next installment in the Prime Video series. Prior to the official release date announcement, Kripke teased a mind-blowing first episode, calling it both "insane" and "special." The Boys Twitter account responded to Kripke saying the "editing room is fully covered in gore already and they're only working on episode 1." While little is known about the plot, Kripke also previously stated that the premiere of Season 3 will be the "craziest" thing the show has accomplished thus far.

Season 3 of The Boys premieres on Prime Video June 3, 2022.
